Cheap and Easy Recipes To Fit Any Budget

Inexpensive Creamed Ground Beef on Toast

I think this is probably one of the cheapest recipes using ground beef that I’ve ever made. It’s incredibly easy, not to mention delicious, too!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 beef bouillion cube
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the flour, salt, pepper and beef bouillion.
  3. Saute for about 5 minutes, until the flour has been absorbed fully.
  4. Gradually stir in milk and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  6. Cook until thickened, about 5-10 minutes.
  7. Serve over toast.
  8. Tip: Use ground turkey instead of beef to cut out fat and save money!

  • 1 large can baked beans
  • BBQ sauce, to taste
  • brown sugar (optional)
  • hamburger buns

Directions:

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey in a large pan.
  2. Drain the grease.
  3. Add the baked beans and stir until well blended.
  4. Add the BBQ sauce and brown sugar and heat through.
  5. Serve with buns.
  6. Tip: use dinner rolls and the kids can have kid-sized sloppy joes!
